Online Bookstore with eCampus!
One of the keys to academic success is access to textbooks. No matter where you choose to rent or buy your books, it's important to have them no later than the first week of classes. GC faculty will expect you to have and use your textbooks in order to do well in their courses. Georgetown College has partnered with eCampus to help students easily find the books they need to succeed. Our Campus Store is located in the basement of Cralle Student Center, or you can order books online.
TUTORING AND WRITING CENTER: SUPPORT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
We know that the transition from high school coursework to college classes can be a tough one, but you don't have to manage it alone.
At GC, we pride ourselves on our robust academic support services. We offer free peer-based tutoring for all of our lower-level classes, and we hire a wide range of tutors to make sure that someone's always available to help. In practical terms: if the only time you can meet with your Foundations 111 tutor is 10 PM on Tuesday night, we will do our best to find a tutor who can make that happen! We are also happy to provide tutors on request for upper-level classes, again at no cost to students or families.
Freshmen course schedules tend to be writing-intensive, so it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with our campus Writing Center. Located on the first floor of the LRC, it's stocked with more peer tutors (typically English majors) who can review your papers and offer suggestions to improve your writing. Like the peer tutoring program, we have staffed the Writing Center with student schedules in mind, so late-night appointments are the norm. Even if you won your high school's writing award, we recommend you check out what they have to offer- and maybe consider seeking a job there as a sophomore!
